MAME.DK, it's the ultimate site,
For ROM's for an emu called MAME.
You can always be sure the zip's are right,
And all the CRC's are the same.
When a new version of MAME is up,
The team is always quick to react.
They'll upload 'em all on their server so tough,
You can download 'em quick, and that's a fact.
But what is this? The site is going down?
The site that's given me 18 months of games to play?
My face is distorted with a sad frown,
Teary-eyed, I do not know what to say.
Everyone says emu sites don't matter,
But this is not in any way true,
It depresses me when what is shattered,
Are kind and noble things people tried to do.
So goodbye, goodbye MAME.DK,
I fear that I must bid you adieu,
But it's sad that you must go away,
Because of money, not an attempt to sue.

11 mar 2001 - Tim asked me to post this: "BTW, Tim didn't cause us to close, non-payment by eFront did."

Its perfectly true as eFront didnt provide proper hosting and thus didnt have the power to shut the site down. On the other hand eFront didnt paied either which in the end caused mame.dk to shut down.

At a@h Tim states "It seems that the webmaster of mame.net (Gridle) and Overclock's (Dave) have something against the emulation community and have instructed people to report Bob the IDSA"

This cant be true at all! I have known Gridle for years, and he is a standup guy to the bone. Why would he do a thing like that? He has always been trustworthy and honest and has already ensured me that this is a lie.

The real blame is on eFront management unfortunally the mail adresses has disappeared for the us version of the site - and if the french dissappears as well here is the important stuff, please send your flames, bombs and complaints to them instead:

Here is our last message:

This is a rather sorry mail that goes to our best partners in the retrogaming community.
The MAME resources at www.mame.dk is most likely to disappear from the net today, so we suggest that you already now remove links to mame.dk (roms, emulator mirrors, link collections etc.) to avoid broken links on your sites. We have been running www.mame.dk for 1.5 years now, financing the server and bandwidth through banners. But currently we are facing huge bills for bandwidth, and our banner company has not been paying us for several months now, so our ISP (who has been most understanding, but of cause only to a certain extent) has given us final warning. The project is threatening our personal economy, and despite our love for the MAME project, we cannot go on like this. We will mail you again when (if) they pull the plug.
