




Na konci roku 1987 byl trh hernï¿½ch konzolï¿½ rozdï¿½len v podstatï¿½ jen mezi Nintendo a Segu. Nintendo ovï¿½em se svï¿½m NESem vlastnilo o poznï¿½nï¿½ vï¿½tï¿½ï¿½ kolï¿½ï¿½, neï¿½ Sega se SMS. Oba osmibitovï¿½ stroje uï¿½ ale pomalu zaï¿½ï¿½naly bï¿½t zastaralï¿½  16ti bitovï¿½ domï¿½ci poï¿½ï¿½taï¿½e Amiga ï¿½i Atari ST zaï¿½aly bï¿½t pro uï¿½ivatele zajï¿½mavï¿½, neb kvalita zejmï¿½na visuï¿½lnï¿½ strï¿½nky her se s konzolemi opravdu nedala srovnat. Nintendo ale nikam nespï¿½chalo  jeho designï¿½ï¿½i pomalu vytvï¿½ï¿½eli budoucï¿½ Super Famicon, vï¿½domi si faktu ï¿½e nenï¿½ kam spï¿½chat. A tak se na pole 16ti bitovï¿½ch konzolï¿½ vrhla jako prvnï¿½ Sega, kterï¿½ uï¿½ mï¿½la s technologiï¿½ dostatek zkuï¿½enostï¿½ ze svï¿½cho novï¿½ch coinopï¿½, a hodlala tentokrï¿½t Nintendu notnï¿½ vypï¿½lit rybnï¿½k.
Zvuk Z80 na 4 MHz, 8KB sound ram, 6 kanï¿½lï¿½ stereo, TI 76489, Yamaha YM 2612 Grafika 320 x 224, 3 plï¿½ny, 80 spritï¿½ Barvy 64 z 512 ROM aï¿½ 1 MB RAM 64 KB Cartridge nejsou kompatibilnï¿½ mezi Japonskem/USA/Evropou. Omezenï¿½ se dï¿½ obejï¿½t pomocï¿½ speciï¿½lnï¿½ch konverznï¿½ch cartridgï¿½ nebo ï¿½pravou hardware. Navï¿½c je moï¿½no v MD pouï¿½ï¿½t i hry ze SMS  k tomu je tï¿½eba tzv. PowerBase converteru. Prvnï¿½ na trh uvedenï¿½ model vydrï¿½el v nezmï¿½nï¿½nï¿½m tvaru aï¿½ do roku 1995. Tehdy byl nahrazen druhou verzï¿½  to je tak, se kterou se povï¿½tï¿½inou setkï¿½te dodnes. Na krabici je jasnï¿½ napsï¿½no Sega Megadrive II, a od pï¿½vodnï¿½ verze se liï¿½ï¿½ nejen tvarem (vï¿½ce hranatï¿½), ale takï¿½ absencï¿½ vï¿½stupu na sluchï¿½tka a regulï¿½toru hlasitosti. I nï¿½kterï¿½ dalï¿½ï¿½ konektory vypadajï¿½ trochu jinak. Na samï¿½m sklonku ï¿½ry Genesisu (1998) jeï¿½tï¿½ Majesco prodï¿½valo "zmodernizovanou" (tj. stejnou ale menï¿½ï¿½ a lï¿½pe vypadajï¿½cï¿½) verzi Genesis III. ï¿½spor ve velikosti bylo bohuï¿½el dosaï¿½eno odstranï¿½nï¿½m expansion portu, takï¿½e k tomuto modelu nelze pï¿½ipojit Sega CD. Jak jsem uï¿½ zmï¿½nil vï¿½ï¿½e, jmï¿½no pro americkï¿½ trh, na rozdï¿½l od celï¿½ho zbytku svï¿½ta, se z Megadrive zmï¿½nilo na Genesis. Krom jmï¿½na jsou rozdï¿½ly opravdu nepodstatnï¿½  drobnosti v designu case a takï¿½ kartridgï¿½. Po vzoru SNK a jeho NeoGeo takï¿½ Sega svï¿½j ï¿½spï¿½nï¿½ hardware pï¿½etavila do coinop verze. Pod nï¿½zvem MegaPlay se tak mï¿½ï¿½ete v hernï¿½ch setkat s boxem, kde si mï¿½ï¿½ete vybrat z Thunder Force 2, Tetris, Altered Beast, Last Battle, Space Harrier 2 a Golden Axe, v pozdï¿½jï¿½ï¿½ verzi takï¿½ Sonic the Hedgehog. Velmi zajï¿½mavou verzï¿½ je takï¿½ Sega Nomad. Handheld, vybavenï¿½ barevnï¿½m LCD o ï¿½hlopï¿½ï¿½ï¿½ce 3 palce, podobnï¿½ho vzhledu jako Game Gear, taktï¿½ pï¿½ipojitelnï¿½ k TV, na 6 AA bateriï¿½, takï¿½ka stoprocentnï¿½ kompatibilnï¿½ s Genesi  se bohuï¿½el nikdy neprodï¿½val v Evropï¿½, a ani evropskï¿½ verze neexistuje... :( Japonci se krom Nomadu mohli setkat i s tzv. MegaJet  v podstatï¿½ Nomadu bez LCD, kterï¿½ byl k dispozici pro potï¿½chu cestujï¿½cï¿½ch v letadlech spoleï¿½nosti Japan Air Lines, kde se pï¿½ipojoval k TV zabudovanï¿½ v sedadlech (pochopitelnï¿½ v nabï¿½dce her opï¿½t nechybï¿½l Sonic). Nomad se kupodivu dï¿½ sehnat dodnes, a ani cena se vï¿½tï¿½inou od tï¿½ pï¿½vodnï¿½ (150 dolarï¿½) pï¿½ï¿½liï¿½ neliï¿½ï¿½... To cena Segy TeraDrive je o poznï¿½nï¿½ vyï¿½ï¿½ï¿½  3000 americkï¿½ch dolarï¿½, a to je nejspï¿½ dï¿½vod, proï¿½ jich existuje relativnï¿½ mï¿½lo, a myslï¿½m ï¿½e dnes byste ji z lacinï¿½ji urï¿½itï¿½ nesehnali. Spï¿½ naopak. Pï¿½itom samotnï¿½ hardware je vyslovenï¿½ k smï¿½chu  AMD 386SX25 PC kompatibilnï¿½! Genesis je v systï¿½mu ve formï¿½ karty do ISA slotu, a komplet doplï¿½ujï¿½ rï¿½znï¿½ vï¿½vojï¿½ï¿½skï¿½ nï¿½stroje a dokumentace. Vï¿½echny verze Genesis jsou schopnï¿½ spouï¿½tï¿½t vï¿½echny existujï¿½cï¿½ hry  s vï¿½jimkou asi 3 titulï¿½, kterï¿½ nezvlï¿½dne Nomad (tituly obsahujï¿½cï¿½ v kartridge vlastnï¿½ hardware, jako tï¿½eba Phantasy Star). Mnoho verzï¿½ mï¿½ ovï¿½em aktivnï¿½ region lock, takï¿½e bez hardwarovï¿½ch ï¿½prav ï¿½i speciï¿½lnï¿½ prï¿½chozï¿½ cartridge dovolï¿½ spustit pouze pï¿½ï¿½sluï¿½nï¿½ japonskï¿½, americkï¿½ ï¿½i evropskï¿½ verze. PowerBase Converter, kterï¿½ umoï¿½ï¿½uje spustis vï¿½echny SMS hry (nikoliv ovï¿½em GameGear hry), nefunguje pouze na Nomadu. Tenhle hardware totiï¿½ je totiï¿½ opravdu pouze to, co napovï¿½dï¿½ nï¿½zev  pï¿½evodnï¿½k umoï¿½ï¿½ujï¿½cï¿½ pouï¿½ï¿½t jinï¿½ format cartridge, pro samotnï¿½ spuï¿½tï¿½nï¿½ je vyuï¿½ï¿½vï¿½na emulace SMS pï¿½ï¿½mo v systï¿½mu kaï¿½dï¿½ Genesis  kterï¿½ ovï¿½em v Nomadu chybï¿½. Prom originï¿½lnï¿½ho PBC lze pouï¿½ï¿½t i vï¿½ce mï¿½nï¿½ pirï¿½tskï¿½ zaï¿½ï¿½zenï¿½ Mega Master, kterï¿½ dï¿½lï¿½ totï¿½ a vyrï¿½bï¿½l ho anglickï¿½ (!) Datel. Rozhodnï¿½ nenï¿½ moï¿½no se nezmï¿½tit takï¿½ o rozï¿½iï¿½ujï¿½cï¿½m hardware pro Genesis. Tï¿½m prvnï¿½m byl Sega CD (v Japonsku Mega CD)  v podstatï¿½ CD drive, pï¿½ipojitelnï¿½ k expansion portu. Verze 1 byla umï¿½stï¿½na pod konzolï¿½ (ï¿½uplï¿½k), verze 2 byla vedle konzole (poklop). Umoï¿½ï¿½ovala pï¿½ehrï¿½vat i hudebnï¿½ CD. Pouze pro Sega CD vzniklo asi 250 her. Pï¿½idanï¿½ hardware: CPU Motorola 68000 na 12,5 MHz CD single speed Sound 16bit DA Dalï¿½ï¿½m rozï¿½iï¿½ujï¿½cï¿½m zaï¿½ï¿½zenï¿½m je Genesis 32x z roku 1994 (v Japonsku Super 32x, v Evropï¿½ Mega 32x). Zapojovalo se do cartridge portu Megadrive, a zlepï¿½ovalo jak jejï¿½ grafickï¿½, tak zvukovï¿½ schopnosti. Pro 32x vzniklo asi 90 her. Vï¿½ce o hrï¿½ch a emulï¿½torech 32x se dozvï¿½te na zdejï¿½ï¿½ 32x strï¿½nce Pï¿½idanï¿½ hardware: CPU 2x RISC Hitachi SH2 na 23MHz Palette 32768 color RAM 512 KB Sound Digital stereo PCM, mixovanï¿½ s Megadrive Sound
